Meet at Ditchling Village Hall at 9.00 am – all welcome. Groups to be decided on the day. Total mileage today will be at least 53 miles but further if riding the longer option.
Although there was a ride to Horsham recently the weather was so bad that only two riders turned up. Let’s cross our fingers for better conditions on Sunday.
The ride to Horsham is a good winter option as it gives the option of utilising the main road should the weather conditions prove to be poor/frosty.
For the Normal route (26 miles – climbing 526 ft) see here
For the Longer route (31 miles – climbing 1163 ft) see here
For a return route to Ditchling (20 miles – elevation 467) see here
It’s worth repeating this note each time we use this route …
If following the normal route, please pay close attention to the directions in the centre of Horsham. Don’t be tempted to leave the (entertainingly cobbled) road in the old centre in favour of charging through the shopping centre and pedestrian tunnel – apart from being illegal, it isn’t much of a shortcut. Instead, there is a tricky-to-find cycle path, which avoids a nasty junction across the main A-road through Horsham. Follow the route carefully and, just before you come to the end of the cobbled section, you’ll see the cycle path on the outside of a right-hand bend. There is a picture showing the start of the path in the Gallery, eighth item from the end.
